CCC win by 7 wickets

CCC travelled to Greensboro to take on GCT confident of their chances but not quite sure what to make of GCT. After all this was a team that had won only two of it's previous games -- against NCSU, the bottom ranked team in the Eastern Region , and, against ROCC , the top ranked team in the Eastern Region !! Go figure. Game time had been set for 9:30 a.m to minimize the possiblity that evening thunderstorms would affect the game. Umpires Dave and Ghias were on time although game started a little late. CCC won the toss and opted to field not being sure how the Flix pitch with grass growing thru it would play. Opening the bowling with Vijay and Ajai, CCC were on top right away , due in equal measure to some tight bowling and some pedestrian batting. At one point , GCT were 30 odd for 5 before a brief fightback restored some respectability to the total. Only Piyush and Hardik from GCT got into double figures with Hardik in partcular playing some attacking shots in an effort to take the fight to the opposition. GCT also benefited from some dropped catches but in the end after Pranav got rid of Hardik, Yogi and Praveen came back strongly to mop up the tail. CCC opened their batting with Vishwas and Ahmed, both of whom looked to be in good touch and were untroubled by the bowlers. Vishwas, however, got out trying to run a single down to mid-wicket but ended up timing the ball better than he wanted and it was straight down the throat of the deep mid-wicket fielder. Ahmed and Praveen also looked good during their brief stays at the pitch. Ahmed was unlucky to be given out caught behind while Praveen was adjudged leg before to a ball that seemed to straighten a bit after pitching. Sanjay and Yogi got together at this stage and wrapped up the remaining runs with any further ado..Yogi finishing off the game with a couple of lofted straight drives for a four and a six. Thanks to Ghias and Dave for umpiring the game.
