Shyam and Neel's fireworks help Lions beat Bulls in a high scoring thriller

Lions were playing their PL game, nearly after a month’s break and Bulls were coming into this game from their breath taking last ball thriller loss. Both the teams waited patiently for the kids’ tournament to finish and were geared up to beat the heat on the hot summer day after a delayed start. Bulls won the toss and elected to bat first. Sudhir and Sami opened the proceedings for Lions. Sudhir was as usual bowling exceptionally good line and length leaving the batsmen to think twice before pouncing on the ball. Sami stuck early for Lions removing Prasad and Pratik in two consecutive overs. The score board read 7/2 in 4 overs. Sanjeewa and Ravi both had a big responsibility to take the score forward and started to play sensible nudging around. Sanjeewa was getting into a good flow hooking, pulling and driving through off side and Ravi was giving him a good stand on the other side. Vijay brought himself on and got Ravi caught at point by restricting his confident attack. In walked Ivan, who was soon sent back to the pavilion by Neel, on the very first ball he faced. Neil was the next batsmen in and gave a good stand along with Sanjeewa. Sanjeewa played a superb knock and got to his well-deserved hundred. With some late hitting from Niranjan, Bulls posted a total of 251 from their 35 overs. Bulls camp look confident of taking it across the line. After the delicious subway lunch, Lions began their chase. Swapnil and Ravi were playing with ease, driving and nudging singles with odd boundaries. Niranjan got Ravi with a quick ball rising up than usual, caught behind the stumps. In walked Shyam who had to carry on building partnership if Lions were to wrap up the game. But to his and Lions disappointment he had walking partners who were didn’t stay long and soon Lions were 54/4 at the first drinks. At this point, Bulls were confident of running away with the game. Neil shah was tossing up the ball and was rewarded in the first session. However Shyam and Ganesh Karthik had different plans for the second session. They were eyeing for the crucial partnership which Lions innings lacked so far. Shyam was now set and started to get loose. After the first drinks, Shyam scored at a very brisk pace launching every bowler into orbits all over the park. Ganesh Karthik at the other end made sure he rotates the strike and provide an important stand to Shyam. In the last 29 balls Shyam face he scored 69 most of them coming in form of sixers. Bulls bowlers were clueless where to land the ball. Every ball was elegantly and powerfully struck out of the park. Shyam fell just before the second drinks break but made sure that Lions gained the momentum by then. In walked Neel who had an unfinished business. He carried the torch from Shyam and with some huge hitting got Lions closer. Neel soon reached his fifty with 4 big sixers. Just when Lions were inching closer to the victory, there was a sudden dramatic collapse of lower middle order, leaving 4 runs to score with 5 overs in hand. Gautam who was playing his first league game made sure Lions grab the victory by smashing Pratik over point for a boundary. It was an excellent game of cricket, good show by the batsmen from both the teams. However Lions came into the game when they were pushed back to the wall with an amazing knock from Shyam and Neel.
